Air-cooled systems often have limitations, especially when components must be compact. In order to ensure efficient cooling, EAK developed a variety of resistance components, designed for water cooling.
Use a water-cooled system to take advantage of the best temperature characteristics. In addition, the performance and life of the component are improved. In the figure on the right, you can see the cooling performance of the water-cooled brake resistor as recorded by the Infrared Thermal Imager. The entire body of the component is used for the cooling process.
The higher investment costs of water-cooling compared with air-based systems are offset by several advantages:
High efficiency and low noise level
Space requirements are reduced by up to 70 per cent
Extremely effective cooling at high ambient temperatures
Very low shell temperature
Longer service life after normal operation
Consistently high performance because of direct removal of heat dissipation
The only way to allow cooling below ambient air temperature
Perfect for mold requiring low surface temperature
